Description
Tassilo chalice ht. 7 1/2", capacity 20 oz, with solid silver inner cup. After an original from the era of the Duke Tassilo of Bavaria (8th cent.), before the Carolingian Renaissance. The original chalice was made during the rain of Duke Tassilo III of Bavaria ( 741 to 800), the chalice made in 742. The cuppa has the "Majestes Domini", The Savior together with the four evangelists (figures). The text on the base is TASILLO DUX FORTIS LIVTPIRC VIRGAREGAUS
