Maple is a light colored hardwood, an excellent choice for our stunning altar vessels and appointments. In its natural state, this ivory colored wood is accented with random dark whorls, surrounded by darker lines, which enhance the personality of these pieces that are manufactured in a "turned" technique. Over time the light cream color will age to a pale golden brown. Although unstained, the wood, after a lengthy drying period, is finished with a clear varnish to prevent damage or discoloration caused by handling.
